I mainly draw fanart in an anime-style. I like to draw traditionally with ink, markers, and colored pencils because the tactile feeling while drawing is more pleasurable to me. I sketch, ink, color, and scan in. There's a prominent writer's callus on my middle finger. I've considered becoming more proficent in digital as well. Mainly because of the ease of use and how widely used digital is. And, well, the look of digital works. But I just keep going back to my pens. (Also I've still packed away my drawing tablet as of writing, oops)
I doubt that I will ever stop drawing. Drawing is something I don't really get tired of doing. The actual process of drawing is very pleasurable to me. Nothing else I've experienced gives me the same kind of satisfaction as drawing something. I am not saying that drawing absolute best feeling in the world for me physically and gives me absolute ecstacy (lol). But I am saying that drawing itches the scratch of boredom as a top-tier hobby. Making art sucks me into the void.
I love anime. I love anime art styles. I used to be embarrassed of liking and drawing anime when I was younger, but I don't care anymore. We only have one life after all. I also like drawing animals / nature. I would like to draw backgrounds better.
I'm at a point now where I'm very happy and frustrated at the same time after I draw. I'm happy because making art makes me happy, but I'm frustrated because I want to improve beyond where I am. I'm also happy which how much I've improved. I don't want to make excuses with my frustration, so I now have access to some reccommended art resources. How to Draw and How to Render by Scott Robertson and Thomas Bertling. Perspective Made Easy by Ernet R. Norling. I have interest in the How to Draw book to start with the most, especially since the author(s) render and draw with Copic markers and pens as well. Perhaps my website can be an improvement timeline? (Of course I also need to study for the JLPT N1 too... My hobbies are turning into full-time jobs! I wish I was a rich NEET sometimes)
I've never technically studied art before. Well, I took public high school art classes and really liked them. But I have not looked at professional / adult level concepts before nor done studies. Look at me, complaining about my skill when I don't even do studies! Ignore my whining, I'm really excited to get better if I decide to commit to this.
Fanart allows me to turn passive media consumption into something curative. When I create fanart, I can break down what information I comsume and put my own twist on it. Most original characters I have are so personal that I cannot share them publically for a very long time. I will draw more of the ones "safe" for the public though going forward!
I want to draw more backgrounds that take inspiration from where I live in the world.
Colors are very important to me. I love color names as well on pens and markers. I would love to master coloring.
