Specific Media Inspirations and Recommendations
For those with specific tastes! ♡♡♡ Mostly a bookmark and reference list for me. Somewhat cryptic. Don't judge my weirdness! Yeah, just don't.
Yeah. LOL. FOR HIGH IQ PEOPLE ONLY!!
On a serious note, consuming media helps inspire my own personal stories. I want to be genre-savvy with what others have created
before me. Table of Contents below.
(Forced) Transformations
Loss of control, mind-body conflict, body-horror, loss of humanity, aliens, etc.
Something I've been very interested in since I was a kid. And as an adult. The idea of someone's body (cute guy?) getting manipulated,
trying and failing to control themselves... I'll have to make a seperate list for werewolves.
- The Incredible Hulk
Was fixated on him in The Avengers (2012). Not a western comic book fan, so no comic references here.
The way he suffered in the 2003 movie also broke something in me though as a kid. Like so many scenes
of him in anguish, the scene with him and his father touching his face, the scene with the love interest
, the scene with the rich antagonist shocking him and trying get him to transform against his will...
I'm not attracted to Mark Ruffalo. Eric Bana is better looking. I used to daydream about scenarios where Bruce Banner gets
captured and forced to transform... and he would be disgusted by and humiliated by the disgusting monster he's forced to become. Yeah.
- Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit
- Animorphs
I had a crush on Prince Ax the alien as a kid. I wanted to hold him lol... Weird childhood crush.
- Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky, Pokemon in general
I daydreamed about being a Pokemon. I'm actually a Mudkip from the selection the game gives you. Accurate too!
- Ben 10!
That one Big Chill episode... Ben 10:Alien Force, Season 1, Episode 17. Also the shipping and transformations and everything...
- The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka
Gross since it's a bug! But I was still interested as a child. Great literary text.
- Sonic Unleashed
I need to play to play this along with...
- Twilight Princess
- Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde
- Teen Titans
- Fruits Basket!!
Pretty kino! And they become naked hehe (which should be the default for attractive characters).
- Ranma 1/2
- Princess Tutu
- Danny Phantom
Pretty and interesting FANTASY lit (primarly books, comics, manga)
- Unico and other Tezuka works
- Dayan the Cat / Wachifield
THE ART. Not really known outside of Japan much, but there's a whole novel series too.
- Earthsea
- Warriors book series
maybe not fantasy but had to include this!
- CLAMP works! Try X / Tokyo Babylon or CCS!
- ARIA!
- Bone (the comics)
- A Centaur's Life
The author put a lot of thought into how fantasy races would live and coexist.
- Hakumei and Mikochi
- Natsume's Book of Friends
- The Wizard of Oz series
Yes, there's a whole book series. Yes, it's different than the Judy Garland movie. I like how
Ozians live around magic and witches.
visual fantasy media (movies, games, primarly anime)
- Fire Emblem! But try the older games too!
- The Dark Crystal (movie and series), The Labyrinth, Jim Henson!!!

Friendship is Magic in particular for meeeeee
- Precure
Most of the magical girl genre tbh
- Steven Universe
- Ojamajo Doremi
- Yuru Yuri
- Touhou
- Nichijou and other slice of life series
- Non Non Biyori
Media Depictions of Disability
Direct, indirect, or metaphorical (imo) depicitions. Some of these may be considered outdated, inaccurate, or offensive [today], but these are depicitions that at
least made an impact on me. I find it interesting how ideas towards disability have evolved over time. And how that is reflected in media.
- Quantum Leap, Season 2, Episode 8
- My Beautiful Man / Utsukushii Kare
- Wreck-It Ralph (yes, really)
- Rain Man
- Edward Scissorhands
- What's Eating Glibert Grape?
