Why a Neocities?
Social media stresses me out. I do not like the algorithm, the way toxicity is promoted, the tribalism, the way your data is collected, the way social media always promotes the *NEW GREATEST PRODUCT*, the way you compare yourself to other people, etc.
There is also a disconnect between the hobbies I have and the friends I have in real life. For that reason, I thought a Neocities would be a good way to express myself online. I also have a private LINE, Discord, and Telegram for friends.
I am Gen Z, so I wasn't around the actual early-2000s old web. But I do remember going on forums, DeviantArt, Tumblr, and more...
